Description

What is Cetraxal Plus?

Cetraxal Plus is a combination ear drop medication used to treat acute outer ear infections (otitis externa) in adults and children over 6 months. It contains two active ingredients: ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that kills bacteria causing the infection, and fluocinolone acetonide, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, itching, and discomfort in the ear.

The treatment comes in single-dose containers, with each unit designed for easy, hygienic, and precise administration directly into the ear canal. The anti-inflammatory and antibacterial combination helps provide rapid symptom relief and promotes healing of the infection.

Cetraxal Plus is especially useful for swimmers, individuals exposed to frequent moisture, and those with sensitive ear canals prone to infection. It does not cause systemic side effects as the action is localized within the ear.

The usual course of treatment lasts for 7 days, and the medication should be used exactly as directed by a healthcare professional.

How should I use Cetraxal Plus?

  • Use one single-dose container per affected ear, twice daily (morning and evening) for 7 days.
  • Warm the container in your hands before use to avoid dizziness.
  • Lie on your side and instill the contents into the ear canal.
  • Remain lying for at least 1 minute to ensure penetration.
  • Do not insert any objects into the ear after administration.

What are the possible side effects?

  • Common: ear discomfort, itching, or mild burning sensation.
  • Less common: dry skin, strange taste in mouth (if drainage occurs).
  • Rare but serious: allergic reactions, swelling, or worsening of infection.

Stop using and seek medical advice if you experience swelling, rash, or hearing changes.

What ingredients are in Cetraxal Plus?

  • Active ingredients: Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (0.2%), Fluocinolone acetonide (0.025%)
  • Other ingredients: Benzalkonium chloride, hypromellose, purified water, sodium acetate, glacial acetic acid.

How should Cetraxal Plus be stored?

  • Store below 25°C in a dry place away from direct light.
  • Keep unused unit-dose containers in their protective pouch.
  • Discard opened containers immediately after single use—do not reuse.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
