What is Nystatin Oral Suspension?

Nystatin Oral Suspension is an antifungal medicine used to treat and prevent fungal infections of the mouth, throat, and gastrointestinal tract. It is particularly effective against oral thrush (candidiasis), a common yeast infection caused by Candida species, often seen in infants, denture wearers, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

The suspension is designed for direct application inside the mouth, where it acts on the fungal cells, stopping their growth and eliminating the infection. It is not absorbed into the bloodstream, making it a safe option for treating localised infections in the mouth and digestive system.

Suitable for both adults and children, Nystatin suspension is usually used multiple times a day until the infection clears. It is important to follow your healthcare provider’s guidance and to complete the full course, even if symptoms improve early.

This medicine is commonly prescribed after antibiotic use, during chemotherapy, or in cases of compromised oral hygiene to help maintain a healthy balance of microorganisms.
