Description
Norgeston Tablets are a progestogen-only contraceptive pill (POP), also known as the “mini pill,” used to prevent pregnancy. Unlike combined oral contraceptives, Norgeston contains only one hormone: levonorgestrel, a synthetic version of the naturally occurring hormone progesterone. Norgeston is an ideal choice for women who are unable to take oestrogen-based contraception due to medical reasons or personal preference.
How It Works
Norgeston works by thickening the cervical mucus, which makes it more difficult for sperm to enter the uterus and fertilise an egg. In some cases, it may also prevent ovulation, although this is not its primary mode of action. Each tablet contains 30 micrograms of levonorgestrel and must be taken at the same time every day without any breaks. There are no placebo or inactive tablets in a Norgeston cycle.
For the pill to remain effective, it must be taken within a 3-hour window at the same time daily. If taken consistently, Norgeston is over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy.
Why Choose Norgeston Tablets
Norgeston Tablets for contraception offer a safe, simple, and effective method of birth control for women who cannot or prefer not to use oestrogen. It’s particularly suitable during breastfeeding or for those at risk of clotting disorders. Because it contains a low dose of hormone, it may be better tolerated by users sensitive to hormone changes. Norgeston does not interrupt daily routines, is reversible, and can be stopped at any time if planning for pregnancy.
Many users experience lighter, less painful periods over time, and some may stop bleeding altogether. It can be used long-term under medical supervision and has a strong safety profile.
Important Note
Norgeston must be taken at the same time each day. If you’re more than 3 hours late, it may not be effective. Always follow the guidance in the patient leaflet. It does not protect against STIs. Store below 25°C and out of reach of children. Seek advice if you miss a pill or experience unusual symptoms.
