Description

Ciprofloxacin is a powerful broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections in adults. It belongs to the fluoroquinolone class and is known for its effectiveness against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Available in 250mg, 500mg, and 750mg strengths, Ciprofloxacin is typically taken once or twice daily, depending on the infection type and severity. It is commonly prescribed for urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, respiratory tract infections, and skin or bone infections. In some cases, it is used for post-exposure treatment of anthrax or prophylaxis in immunocompromised patients.

The tablets should be taken on an empty stomach or away from dairy and antacids, as certain minerals can reduce its effectiveness. Ciprofloxacin is fast-acting, with many patients noticing symptom improvement within the first 1–2 days of treatment.

How It Works

Ciprofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes critical for DNA replication and repair. This action causes rapid bacterial cell death, stopping the spread of infection.

Why Choose Ciprofloxacin

Effective against a broad range of bacterial infections

High oral bioavailability

Useful when other antibiotics fail

Flexible dosing for various infection sites

Trusted in both community and hospital settings

Important Note

Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Take Ciprofloxacin with water and avoid dairy at the same time.
Report any unusual joint pain, tendon swelling, or neurological symptoms immediately, especially in the elderly or those on corticosteroids. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, as Ciprofloxacin can increase skin sensitivity to light.
