What is Cinnarizine?

Cinnarizine Tablets are used to treat and prevent symptoms related to balance and motion disorders, including vertigo, nausea, and travel sickness. Cinnarizine is an antihistamine with additional calcium channel blocking properties, which help reduce sensitivity in the inner ear — the area responsible for balance — and relieve associated symptoms.

It is commonly prescribed for people experiencing labyrinthitis, Ménière’s disease, or vestibular disorders that cause dizziness or imbalance. Cinnarizine may also be used for short-term relief from motion sickness during travel.

Each tablet contains cinnarizine and is usually taken two or three times per day depending on the condition being treated. For motion sickness, it may be taken before travel to prevent symptoms.

Cinnarizine is generally well tolerated and helps improve quality of life for individuals affected by inner ear disturbances and movement-related discomfort.

How should I take Cinnarizine?

  • For balance disorders: take 1 tablet 3 times daily, or as directed.
  • For travel sickness: take 1 tablet 2 hours before travel, then every 8 hours as needed.
  • Swallow with water after food to reduce risk of stomach upset.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose.

What are the possible side effects?

  • Common: drowsiness, dry mouth, stomach upset, weight gain.
  • Less common: muscle weakness, increased appetite.
  • Rare but serious: tremors, involuntary movements, allergic reactions such as rash or swelling.

Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected by drowsiness. Consult your doctor if symptoms are severe or prolonged.
