Description
Elleste Duet is a sequential combined hormone replacement therapy (HRT) designed for postmenopausal women who still have their womb. It is used to relieve symptoms of oestrogen deficiency such as hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, and vaginal dryness. Elleste Duet is also indicated to help prevent osteoporosis in women at high risk of fractures who are unable to take other forms of bone protection.
How It Works
Elleste Duet contains estradiol, a synthetic version of the body’s natural oestrogen, and norethisterone acetate, a synthetic progestogen. In the first 16 days of each 28-day cycle, estradiol is taken on its own to relieve menopausal symptoms. During the final 12 days, both estradiol and norethisterone are taken together to protect the lining of the womb from the potential risks of unopposed oestrogen, such as endometrial hyperplasia. This sequential regimen mimics the natural hormonal cycle and typically results in a monthly withdrawal bleed.
Why Choose Elleste Duet
Elleste Duet is a well-established, effective HRT option for women seeking symptom relief and uterine protection. The sequential format suits women who prefer a predictable monthly cycle and who have not yet transitioned to continuous combined HRT. Available in both 1 mg and 2 mg oestrogen strengths, it offers flexible dosing to suit individual needs. It helps alleviate a wide range of menopausal symptoms and may support long-term bone health under medical supervision.
Important Note
Elleste Duet should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider. It is not a contraceptive and is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It should not be used by women with a history of breast cancer, stroke, or active liver disease. Long-term use should be reviewed regularly to ensure continued need and minimise health risks. Unexpected vaginal bleeding or other adverse symptoms should be promptly assessed by a healthcare professional.
